John was educated at Swanwick Infants and Junior Schools and Somercotes Secondry School. He was apprenticed as a plumber. He served in the Royal Air Force for 3years from 1951. In 1958 he joined the National Coal Board as a Storekeeper. In March 1973 he was promoted to Assistant Area Chief Storekeeper at North Notts Area. In 1975 he became Deputy Area Contracts Officer and then in 1982 took up the post of Assistant Stores Officer, Coal Products Ltd. In October 1983 he was promoted to Stores Officer in the same Department. |
